Flanked by the 1.2 mile Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade, Myrtle Beach has a magnificent new centerpiece; The SkyWheel! And an integral part of this attraction is the LandShark Surf Shack and Bar and Grill. So what does this have to do with SIPS? R-Control Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) were used for the roof of this attraction, situated in the shadow of the SkyWheel itself.
It is well documented that R-Control SIPs are highly energy efficient. What may be somewhat less well known is the strength and structural integrity of building with SIPS panels.
From the devastating 1995 earthquake in Kobe, Japan, to surviving 200 mile winds during a tornado in Sumner County, Tennessee, the strength of R-Control SIPS has proven to withstand some of the toughest conditions that Mother Nature can conjure up. This durability is what made the R-Control system perfect for the coastal conditions inherent in Myrtle Beach.
It’s always gratifying to see our products used in high profile applications, but the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel may be one of the most breathtaking of them all.
