R-Control Perform Guard EPS is a termite resistant expanded polystyrene
insulation used in Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) and other R-Control
Building Systems.
- Resistant to termite damage
- Non-toxic, safe to handle
- Incorporates EPA registered material
- Meets code requirements for ground contact
- Cost effective
The Problem
Insulation helps keep people comfortable. Unfortunately, insulations are
susceptible to termite infestation. Termites love to live, work and eat in
comfortable and protected surroundings. All insulation can potentially
provide this environment. Most of the U.S. is susceptible to termite
activity. It is important that insulation systems account for potential
termite infestation.- Termites reduce insulation & system performance
- Termites cause problems for structural systems
- Costs to control termites can continue indefinitely
The Solution - Perform Guard EPS
R-Control Perform Guard EPS is an important component in helping to control
this problem. It's made by a patented process using an inorganic mineral
that is a natural deterrent to termites. This mineral is incorporated into
the insulation during the manufacturing process. It is registered with the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for this application. Perform Guard
EPS has been thoroughly tested, is safe, noncorrosive and nontoxic to humans. And
termites hate it.
Perform Guard is not a barrier system, but should be used in conjunction with a total
insect management program available from a reputable pest control operator.
Code Compliant
Perform Guard EPS has been evaluated for below grade use by the ICC ES. Please see
ICC ES Evaluation Report ESR-1006.
To learn more about the criteria for acceptance of Perform Guard EPS by the ICC ES, please see ICC ES Evaluation Guide EG-239.
