Headline: R-Control Develops New Steel Attachment System
R-Control SIP (Structural Insulated
Panel) use continues to grow. Numerous projects with R-Control SIPs
applied over steel frame and joist systems has also grown. The typical
attachment technique called for a wood nailer preinstalled over steel
members, then the R-Control SIP secured by means of a wood screw. This
application is strong and serviceable, but requires a slower and more
costly two-step process.

R-Control Building Systems has now developed an industry leading attachment system for R-Control SIP to steel structural members. The system is the R-Control “Gray Driller” Screw. The R-Control Gray Driller is designed as a one step, self-tapping attachment system which: 1. Eliminates the need for wood nailers on top of steel members. 2. Eliminates the step of pre-drilling pilot holes and will self tap into steel as thick as 3/16”. 3. Is available in lengths up to 14”. 4. Has a square drive head for easy none stripping attachment. 5. Has a large flat head to resist pull through. 6. Has a superior coating to resist corrosion.
The R-Control Gray Driller will revolutionize the use of R-Control SIP construction for light commercial projects.
