Perform Guard EPS
Sheathing creates a stable R-Value
energy barrier needed on all frametype
construction. Perform Guard
EPS Exterior Sheathing lessens thermal
breaks caused by studs, headers,
and rim joists. Code compliant exterior
weather barriers, such as wood,
metal, vinyl, hardboards and face
brick are all acceptable sidings over
Perform Guard EPS Sheathing.
Features:
Breathable material and facings
No CFC, HCFC, or HFC
Resistant to termites
Advantages:
Can be used in new and rehab
construction
Reduces air movements in wall
Stops dew point/moisture condensation
in wall
Blocks air infiltration.
Construction handling durability.
Levels new and old substrates
Can use wood, metal, vinyl, hardboard,
brick and other sidings
Available with foil facing, unfaced,
and special order plastic
laminate
Specifications
Perform Guard EPS Exterior Sheating will be installed
tightly where shown on drawings. Provide ASTM type,
size, and thickness as stated in drawings or as part of
this specification. Install in compliance with applicable
building codes.
Apply material with large headed staples or fasteners,
spacing not to exceed 12" o.c. vertically on studs.
Regional requirements may dictate increased fastener
frequency. Take care to protect material during
installation. Install corner bracing as required by
code. Apply code acceptable exterior weather barrier
per siding manufacturer's recommendations over insulation
sheathing.
Design Consideration: System R-Values can be increased
approximately 2.5 with the use of a bright foil
laminate. A minimum 1/2" air space on the reflective
foil surface of the sheathing is required to achieve this
additional R-Value. (Reference: ASHRAE Handbook
Fundamentals.)
